history and future

In 1966 Cliff Valley School was established as a progressive, cooperative preschool and kindergarten with the goal of nurturing children to become confident, independent learners and responsible, caring members of the community. Located on Clairmont Road, the preschool has been a resource to the Northeast Atlanta community through several generations. Cliff Valley School's expansion through the elementary grades began in 2000, driven by the needs of its families to have their children continue their high-quality education at the school.

In 2004 our renowned school moved into a new building with facilities for environmental education (inside and out), earth-friendly building materials, state-of-the-art security, computers in each elementary classroom, a library/media center, meeting facilities and much more. The school was designed around the students' needs and the school's philosophy, to construct a warm, friendly environment that fosters creativity and development.

In 2010-11 we added two new buildings to our campus that include additional classroom and administrative space, a science lab, a new music room, and a gymnasium with a stage for performing arts.

Future Plans

Our program expansion is now complete, with the addition of eighth grade in the fall of 2013.

One of Cliff Valley's strategic objectives is to wide the program to have two classes per grade level. Our program growth has been intentionally slow, deliberate, and focused on quality. Expansion has taken place one grade level at a time; as of fall 2016 we have two classes in all grades but grade 8.
