Thanks to the families who participate in Cliff Valley’s Student Scholarship Organization (SSO) Cliff Valley continues to extend scholarships to new students each year through the Georgia Private School Tax Credit program.

What is the private school tax credit?
In the summer of 2008, the Georgia legislature passed the Georgia Private School Tax Credit - a program that seeks to filter $58 million in tax revenue from the state directly to private schools on a first-come first-served basis. This program has financial benefits for you and for the school.

How can the tax credit benefit both Cliff Valley School and me?
Under this law, participants redirect a portion of their Georgia state income taxes to provide scholarship assistance to new Cliff Valley students. Participants receive a tax credit on state income taxes and a charitable contribution deduction on federal income taxes for the amount donated. For married couples filing jointly, the maximum eligible contribution is $2,500, and as an individual, the maximum is $1,000.

If you are a business owner you may be able to support CV with a tax credit contribution up to $10,000 and receive the very same tax benefits as individual taxpayers.

Can I direct my contribution to my child?
Unfortunately, parents may not direct contributions to a child; Cliff Valley School selects eligible students to receive funds as mandated by the state qualification guidelines.

Who qualifies for the scholarship?
A Georgia resident enrolled in primary public school or eligible to enroll in a qualified kindergarten program or pre-kindergarten program.

What is a SSO?
Each school works through an independent Student Scholarship Organization (SSO). Cliff Valley has partnered with the Apogee Georgia School Choice Scholarship Fund, a state-approved SSO. Designating Cliff Valley in your donation will earn you a Georgia state income tax credit for the tax year the donation is made. Your donation also means you may be allowed a charitable contribution deduction on your federal tax return.
